چکیده

In this paper, we introduce variable coding rate (VCR) control to OFDM adaptive modulation scheme (OFDM AMS) in order to realize high throughput with relatively simple transceiver configurations in a dynamic parameter controlled-orthogonal frequency and time division multiple access (DPC-OF/TDMA). In the proposed system, multilevel transmit power control (MTPC) is not employed to simplify hardware. Instead, we will introduce a VCR control technique that reduces the required signal to interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) gap between adjacent modulation and coding scheme (MCS) in the OFDM AMS, thereby reducing surplus power between the actual received SINR and the required SINR. Furthermore, this paper also presents a bit loading algorithm to effectively transmit MAC payloads with certain fixed lengths. Throughput performances obtained from computer simulations confirm that the proposed VCR OFDM AMS can be a good alternative to the OFDM AMS/MTPC. Keywords— OFDM, adaptive modulation scheme, variable coding rate, bit loading, DPC-OF/TDMA, one-cell reuse TDMA

An OFDM Based Adaptive Modulation Scheme Employing Variable Coding Rate

This paper proposes an OFDM based adaptive modulation scheme employing variable coding rate (VCR OFDM AMS), which selects optimum modulation and coding scheme (MCS) realized by combination of several modulation schemes and coding rates. The OFDM AMS with multilevel transmit power control (OFDM AMS/MTPC) can realize high data rate transmission in the dynamic parameter controlled-orthogonal frequ...

Adaptive Coding and Modulation in OFDM Systems using BICM and Rate-Compatible Punctured Codes

Within the EU FP6 Integrated Project WINNER, adaptive transmission in a TDMA/OFDMA system is investigated as a key technology for boosting the spectral efficiency of a new radio interface for 4G systems. Adaptive allocation and linkadaptation of subcarriers or groups of subcarriers based on short-term channel quality prediction offer significant adaptation and multi-user scheduling gains. The s...

Throughput Analysis of Adaptive BIC-MIMO-OFDM Systems

The noncoherent capacity of multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems is first derived. Then, an adaptive bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) scheme for the MIMO-OFDM system that exploits transmitter beamforming and variable-rate-variablepower (VRVP) QAM is proposed to enhance the throughput in a time-varying environment. The throughput of the v...

An Efficient Scheme for PAPR Reduction of OFDM based on Selected Mapping without Side Information

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has become a promising method for many wireless communication applications. However, one main drawback of OFDM systems is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Selected mapping (SLM) is a well-known technique to decrease the problem of high PAPR in OFDM systems. In this method, transmitter is obliged to send some bits named side informati...

Teletraffic Performance Analysis of Multi-class OFDM-TDMA Systems with AMC

In traditional channelized multiple access systems, e.g., TDMA and FDMA, each user is assigned a fixed amount of bandwidth during the whole service time, and the teletraffic performance in terms of time congestion, call congestion and traffic congestion can be easily obtained by using the classical Erlang-B formula. However, with the introduction of adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) scheme e...
